Rawinala Foundation

Rawinala is a Jakarta based educational and care facility for multi-disabled visually-impaired children. Currently the Centre caters for 60 children who not only rely very much on the generosity of sponsors but also the time and dedication provided by educators and carers. The Centre would like to increase its capacity from 60 to more than 100 children and to do so requires project funds of around $30,000 over the next few years. An inspection of the school is highly recommended to those considering supporting this foundation. Rotary will ensure total transparency and accountability of project funds to meet CSR requirements.

Our Projects

In late 2011 Rotary Club Jakarta Cilandak undertook the financing of washroom renovations at Rawinala, making life just a little bit easier for the children of Rawinala. In conjunction with Rotary Club Ayr Queensland we also funded the overhead canopy covers on the outdoor walkways of Rawinala, making a significant contribution to ensuring children, teachers, carers and staff remain dry.

In November 2015 the club used the expertise of its members for a Hydroponic Deployment

In March 2016 rawinal's site was affected by flooding and the school lost a number of cupboards as they could not be removed in time. The Club funded the purchase of 10 plastic containers to be used as intirim storage untill the new cupboards can be purchased.

We are in the planning stages for building a training centre based at their location. This training centre will be used to train teachers and carers from around Indonesia, who will be able to return to their communities to help the education and well-being of multi-disabled visually impaired children in their locations. The ultimate goal is to provide access to help for as many MDVI children in Indonesia as possible. Currently there are only 5 MVDI schools in Indonesia caring for 200 children (less than 1% of estimated MVDI children in Indonesia). The Rotary Club Jakarta Cilandak has a number of charity events targeted to be held throughout this and following years of which funds will also be allocated to this project and other projects within Rawinala.
